Biologically Active Peptides are typically from 5 to ~70 amino acid residues in length. In many cases, the peptide chain is stabilized with covalent crosslinks (ie. disulfide bonds) to maintain their desired biological activities.

These activities may include analgesic, antidiabetic, antihormonal, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-hypertensive, antithrombotic and laxative effects. With low toxicity and high specificity, these products are routinely used in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
